Today is nomination day.

Well...today is the nomination day for Singapore. All the parties are campaigning for the respective constituencies. It is a little funny seeing flags and posters all around the estate. There is one near my school. I am amused by it because it is the first day of campaigning, and there are already posters at every tree and lamp post:) Our dear government really lives up to the Singaporean kiasuness.
The PAP logo
I wonder what will be the results this year? The competition is quite strong. It is interesting to listen to the various arguments that the parties make. Thank god it is not my turn to vote yet:) My school will be turned into a polling center next Saturday so there will be a half day off on that Friday and public holiday on the following Monday! Phew. I need the rest and time to study:)

Today was quite a good day for me. We had a good discussion on one of the comprehensions on The Gender Revolution. I am a quite a feminist and so was my teacher. When she was talking about how some males are such chauvinists, my friend pointed to one guy in class. ALL the girls started laughing because she was totally right and the guy in question[actually all the boys because they could not see what was happening at the back] looked around, not knowing why we all start laughing. It was such a funny scene! Actually, I feel a little bad for him [I think] Because he has a very conventional way of thinking. Like... how girls should stay at home and take care of children, how we must be more conservative and how he think that being gay is a choice [I do not agree with that] and they can choose not to be gay. I do not agree with that either. I am sure there are other reasons. Oh well. It was just so funny, all of us were laughing our heads off[maybe not.]

Haha and if you were wondering, I really did my economics essay in the two and half hour of break. Proud of me much? Haha. I wish everyday was as interesting as this.

Yupyup, that's all folks. Ciao!

Rebecca:)

Phew:)

I just took three hours to clear up the huge pile of papers on my table. It was preventing me from studing efficiently because it was just plain distracting. I am glad that it has gotten down to one-third of its size, and I finally have more space to study:) I swear all my papers added together is like 30kg! Holding them makes me feel imbalanced. What's worse, the file can no longer stand on its own because it is so fat and heavy. I have to lean it against all the other files. I am so smart, right?

Oh well....actually I admit, I am not very efficient because it is like 12 am and I still have an Economics essay to be completed. You must be wondering why I am here then? Haha. I have a two and half hour break tomorrow=homework time! I also finished copying my notes for Biology lesson tomorrow okay. It is sooo difficult now. All the bombastic words (that I am probably never going to use after 'A's) is hurting my brain. Seriously, does oxaloacetate even look like a word to you? Even the spell-check does not recognize it-_- I provided a link for the word. Check it out only if you are really curious because I do not think you will know the definition either. Double -______-|||

Yup, another sad chapter of my life. Ciao:)

Well... I LOVE Sailormoon! It is the best manga character ever! I want this figurine! At US$192.31, I know it is worth it! But I need the money first:/

This is a dress from a shop that sells lolita fashion. Isn't it so pretty and sweet? It costs AU$120:D

I think it would be really cool if I had this. I can eat healthy unhealthy food:) One tablespoon of food for a plate of fries. I WANT! I heard that it tastes different than real fried food though, but I do not care! Healthy is the keyword here! Costs about US$300

It is over:/

Well...all I have to look forward to is after 'A' levels. I am going to go wild after that!
I need a motivation list:
  • I wanna learn French here.
  • I wanna learn Japanese here.
  • Learn driving
  • Go overseas(Europe?) with some good friends:)
  • Go for an extreme makeover XD
  • Go for a shopping spree.
  • Learn how to invest
  • Work somewhere nice
  • Volunteer at a home
  • Crochet more stuff
  • Set up a booth at a flea
Yupyup. This will be part of my wannados list. But now I have to study first:) Ciao!

Rebecca :D

Why I was excited.

Well...I was excited because I got to go out with German exchange students for one day:) I have always enjoyed bringing foreigners around Singapore. I think it is quite satisfying to tell them about Singapore and get to know them. I am glad that I got the chance this time round. So far, I have brought 2 groups of Japanese and 2 groups of Germans. I would say it is not bad considering that this is all within 3 years. I think I am much suited to bring a small group of 2 to 3 along instead of a group of 20 though. I cannot seem to catch their attention. It was quite an epic fail:( Oh well. Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself and I hope they enjoyed themselves too! Okay, On with the pictures. We only took pictures after everything ended though. They are leaving today, but I cannot see them off at the airport because I have school tomorrow:( Oh well.

With Ms Krieger
This is a picture with one of the teachers in training. Guess her age? Haha. My sweetest friend Penny is the fairest of us all!

Three locals and five Germans at Yum Cha.
There is a girl who looks Asian, but she is actually German Vietnamese. Guess who? I knew her from when I went to Germany:)

I guess I have the roundest face and I am the only one who does not use makeup. Haha. At least I have the straightest teeth, even though it was not natural[braces]

Oh well, all in all, I had fun, but it would have been even better if Rachel and Classy were there:) This was one happy thing that happened to me this week.

Yupyup. I am too tired to go into the gritty little details:)

I am EXCITED:D

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I will tell you why in the next post. Cross my fingers and my toes that it will go well as planned! XD

Tutorial: How I do Eraser Deco-den

Okay, warning: this post is loaded with pictures from the newly bought Olympus Tough TG-310. The camera has quite a number of functions but it takes quite long to process stuff. My parents bought it because it can take pictures underwater. My father likes snorkeling and diving. Thus, the camera. We have to take pictures of the fishes and corals before global warming bleach all the corals and kill the fishes in the process:/

Okay, back to topic. I will be deco-ing my eraser pen and a pen cover[which I later regretted deco-ing]

Firstly, I planned what design I wanted to do. I laid the rhinestones on my table and see if it looks okay.
I used the paper from here
After deciding what design I wanna do for my eraser, I put the glue onto my eraser pen with the glue shown below and a toothpick[also shown]. In this project, I used 5mm half pearls, 2mm clear flatback and 5mm hot pink flatback. All the rhinestones in this project were from Sophie and Toffee

After that, using a tweezer or magical pick[which I have not bought] put the rhinestones/pearls in the order shown below. Usually, I will put on the larger rhinestones first. However, in this case, I found that putting on the smaller rhinestones would be easier because it fits perfectly. Make sure that the rhinestones and pearls touch each other so that it has a less''gappy'' look to it. I used Uniball E knock eraser . It is perfect for deco-den because it has a straight body[and it is pink] I started pasting the rhinestones from the clippy thingie. It is easier to ensure that you arrange the rhinestones straight that way.

I was fiddling with the camera when I found this function---sparkle. It is very useful in making things sparkle. It is great because somehow when you take pictures of deco-den, it appears much duller than it is. I tried it out on my half finished eraser.

Shiny right? It made me quite happy. to see it ''shine''. After that few moments of awe, I went back to deco-ing....Lalala. Okay, from here on, glue, rhinestones, arrange, let it dry, glue, rhinestones, arrange, let it dry x100 times. Well, practice makes perfect and I am still practicing too.

3 hours later....

All done and ready to show off! Oh...you see the pen on the background? It is the one I regretted deco-ing because I could have used the rhinestones there to finish up my eraser. At first, I only wanted to deco part of the eraser. But after I deco-ed the pen cover I changed my mind an went back to the eraser. After happily doing some more, I realized....I had not enough pink crystals:'( Darn. I was like-____-||| REGRET! You see, the pen cover was not straight so it turn out from this

Nice part
To this....

Do you see how the rhinestones do not fit so well anymore? It became crooked. I was like....WHY??? :'( Oh well. this just gives me a chance to log onto Sophie and Toffee to buy more rhinestones. They are looking for ambassadors now, but due to my busy schedule and lack of readers, I cannot go for it. Oh well. One day when I am rich and famous.... Oh. I put a row of heart pearls into the middle because the 5mm rhinestones could not fit into it. It sort of made a nice effect though:)

I hope to finish this soon. In case you are wondering why I deco my eraser, it is because I like to doodle and I use this [my favourite] eraser to erase minute details that a normal [fat] eraser would ruin.

By the way, this is another one of the ways I do to cheer myself up. At least there is something I am relatively good at!

Yupyup, That's a very long post/not really tutorial. Ciao!

Rebecca:)

It hurts.

Well...I am upset again. This time, it is not really about studies. It is sort of like a few events that is making me upset and disappointed. I thought I could brush it off as a joke, but it is not so easy. I do not know if I should post this here, but I have to let it out. If you do not want to know about my sad life, please skip this post.

I know that I have quirky habits, calculating everything I spend, participating in contests and using cut-out coupons. It may seem like I am very ''auntie-like''. I know. Because I do not see anything wrong in it, do you? To me, it is more like being practical and realistic. After all, if I save this amount of money, I will get to use it somewhere else where it is more needed. I can use this money for rainy days, donate to charity or treat myself to ice-cream. There is always a reason to save. I am sure that not many people understand that and I do not blame you because if I was not me, I would not understand it either. I am definitely not an impulsive buyer and I am indecisive/fickle-minded. I know. But one thing I do not quite understand is, how come you see this negatively instead of positively? I thought this is being thrifty. That is supposed to be good...right? Well, the main point is, calling me ''auntie'' did not hurt for the first 5 times, but it started to hurt when everyone is calling me that. I know that it is a endearment(sort of) and I have tried to take it easy. But frankly, I feel uncomfortable when you relate every I do to being ''auntie''. I am just being me:( and I do share whatever benefits I have with everyone.

Another thing that has been troubling me is my standard of English. I know I do not pronounce my words well, it seems that my tongue is as flexible as the rest of myself. It is a wonder how no one really commented on my bad pronunciation till now. I can totally imagine my dear friend Rachel's thoughts when she talks to me. She is probably controlling herself from correcting every mispronunciation and grammatical error I made during our conversations. Thank you and I love you for that dearie:) Well...you see, most of my family members are Chinese educated. This means that they learn their school subjects in Chinese. That was in the 1970s in Singapore. They probably never used the English language until they went to work in a Danish company. However, they knew the importance of the English language and spoke to me in English since I was a baby. Only my Grandparents spoke to me in Chinese. But the thing is, their English is not perfect. I learnt how to use proper English in school. I was in a mission school for 10 years and almost everyone spoke English there. I sort of ''perfected'' my English there. Of course, it was not perfect but no one complained so I went on. The thing is, the English I use in school is simple English, without all those bombastic words. No one uses them at home. In my preteens, I enjoyed reading books, especially classical novels such as Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. These books improved my vocabulary and helped me to learn more difficult words. The thing is, these books do not tell me how to pronounce them. You may say that it comes naturally and I was supposed to learn phonics in primary school. But the facts remains, I would not know how to pronounce them until someone tells me how to. I do not have the ability(learnt or otherwise) to know how to pronounce these words. Ya. I am incapable of doing that. It seem to me that I always have to learn it the hard way---when someone laughs at my pronunciation. It hurts, although I try not to take it to heart. It really hurts, especially when it comes from my friends. I know it is difficult to understand where I am coming from, especially if you never had that problem. I will laugh it off together with you.

But I will be sad, that you do not understand what I really feel. I guess I have a poker face. After all, I always win Cheat with my friends. I think I have discovered the secret to having a poker face---a smile.

Yup. This is a very tedious, heart-breaking and long post about what I been so preoccupied about the past few days. Ciao.

Rebecca:'(

I hope that someday, someone will truly understand me, a kindred spirit (from Anne of Green Gables)

Bandung!

Well, previously I mentioned that I bought Rose-scented tissues right? I think smelling too much rose/bandung smell made me crave drinking bandung. I bought a cup today. You can see the a milkier pink on top and a deeper pink below. This is because the picture was taken before I mixed it:) I love the color!

This is taken in my school's canteen:)
My friend bought Vitasoy and she got the idea to put two straws in her mouth to suck it up. Well...after she sucked it up, I saw pink stuff going down the Vitasoy straw-___-||| Haha.

I tried it next. It is actually nice! Thinking back, I realize that I probably drank up whatever pink stuff my friend left in her Vitasoy. Eek:/
I got back my Economics results today. I was amused by what the whole cohort of H2 Economics got.

1A
3Bs
8Cs
26Ds
27Es <~I got this;/

The rest got Ss and Us.

Okay, this generally means that everyone did not do well.

Oh well, as I said, I will do better next time! Yupyup, Ciao:)

April 09, 2011

Oh my.

Today, my mom came to me with a eyebrow shaver in her hand....
Oh my.

Update: I failed to defend my eyebrows. My friend says that it looks weird.....WOAHHHHH!!!!

Pictures from Deviantart :)

Anyway......Well. I think that deviantART very good source of inspiration in my daily life. When I look though some of the pictures in there, it reminds me of the little things in life that happened to me. I like to look at the pictures and smile to myself because some of them are just so pretty and meaningful. Well, some are just plain humorous! Here are some of the pictures which I like:

source:http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/?q=Amber&order=9&offset=72#/d1h4vah
I really love this. The first time I saw it, it reminded me of my friend Freya:) Because the name of this artwork was Amber. the second thing that struck me were the eyes. Yupyup, *whispers* I have an eye fetish. The eyes are so pretty. I wish mine were like that. But then again, if it was, I would look creepy because I am asian. Hehe. I like the way she seem to be looking at me too. The artist who drew this is really good. you should check her out!

source:http://monkeymoon.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d22kwrv
Yup, she is the villain in Sleeping Beauty from Disney. I think she is quite a cool person. She has eyebrows the shape of her forehead!

A fanart for Sailormoon. I wanna draw like this. I lovelovelove the moon on this art piece. Okay. I just love the moon real or drawn.
source:http://www.deviantart.com/#/d3didp9
This is a fan art for the movie, 'Sprited Away' If you have not watched it, you should. I think it is quite out of the world and touching. Oh well. All the Ghibli films are very good. I went on a Ghibli marathon once, and I enjoyed it a lot. Chihiro(the girl) and Hazu(the boy) were separated in the end.

Yupyup. That's all. Ciao

Rose scented tissues

Well. I know this is a random subject. But yup, tissues. My family always use tissues from Guardian, which costs us $2 for ten packets of 8 x 4 plys. I love it because it comes with different scents. We usually buy the mint scent. However this week, I thought we should buy the rose scent for a change. So that was what I did:)
Rose:)
It smells like Bandung to me. Bandung is drink made with water and rose syrup. Usually, evaporated milk will be mixed in to give it a creamy taste but you can have with or without. If you ever happen to come to Singapore or Malaysia, do try it. It is yummylicious!

Okay. I sidetracked. Back to tissues. They are an essential part of my life because I suffer from sensitive nose and sinus. My nose often get leaky if there is too much dust or when it is too cold. Therefore, I always use tissues.

Yupyup. These are done by me. Quite cute, I must say. What do you think? Ciao!

Sailormoon(love):]

I am so excited! Sailormoon is returning to US in September 2011!!! See this article? I am soo excited!!!
You see, I <3<3<3 Sailormoon. When I was in primary school, I would rush home to watch Sailormoon on my Grandma's cable TV.

Why do I love it?
1)When I fall in love with something, I will love it forever. Therefore, I still love it now.
2)I am also amazed by how traditional anime is created and appreciate it because I doubt they had photoshop then.
3)Watching Sailormoon never fails to cheer me up when I am down (eg. a few days ago) It always makes me laugh.

If you do not know what is Sailormoon, here's a picture!
source:http://mangastyle.net/genga4.htm
This is an art book scan. Notice the lace detail at the back of some of the pictures? I think that is a nice effect:) Here is the Wikipedia definition of Sailormoon:)  Below is a compilation of funny clips in Sailormoon. Please check it out if you are interested. Maybe you will fall in love with it too!

Yupyup, that's all. Ciao!
